Surf & chill in Morro Jable

Fuerteventura is hands down one of the best surf destinations in Europe. The Main Camp, the ‘Casa Alberto’, is located in the southern town of Morro Jable, with the Surf Hostel only 25 meters away. Both overlook the Atlantic Ocean, are within easy walking distance to the beach, and have big terraces to soak up the sun. Both the Main Camp and the Surf Hostel have a lively surf camp atmosphere.

The third house is in the neighbouring town of Costa Calma. It also is only meters away from the water and has ocean views. This option caters more to travellers and surfers who want more privacy and a quieter holiday to focus on relaxing, and surfing.

  • All accommodation near the beach
  • Find the perfect camp to suit your holiday
  • Great waves all year nearby
  • Beginners and advanced surf courses available as well as surf guiding
  • Surf courses have small groups, some theory, practical learning and video coaching
  • Plenty of action activities to keep you busy when you’re not surfing

All 3 locations are run by Blue Passion S.L. and have been mediated through Pure Surf Camps for years. The locations cater to every type of surfer looking for any type of holiday. The team is super friendly and consists of passionate surfers who look forward to every session out in the water with you regardless if they are helping you with your first waves, or getting you in big cutbacks at the best waves in Fuerteventura. The team also are locals to the island and will check the conditions early every morning to find the right waves for your skill level.

The local spot that the surf school heads to is a mellow beach break in Jandia, 5 minutes from Morro Jable on a bike, called, Cruz Roja. When the swell gets big it turns into a sand bottomed right-hand point break where you can get super fun waves.

Surroundings

The breathtaking Fuerteventura landscape

The island of Fuerteventura
The second largest, and least populated island in the Canaries has 1.722 km² of land with about 90,000 permanent residents. There are kilometres of empty, perfect, golden sand beaches.

The three camps are located towards the southern tip of the island on the Jandia peninsula in the towns of Morro Jable and Costa Calma. Playa Jandia is the main tourist hub in the south and has everything you’d expect in a tourist town. Plenty of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops and supermarkets as well a beach promenade. In Morro Jable things are a little quieter. There are bars and restaurants, as well as a few shops, but the town is much smaller and quieter. The golden sand beach at Morro Jable stretches an amazing 26 km.

Local Tips

The surf coaches will be there every step of the way

The perfect location and the perfect team to improve your surfing. The team gauges your skill level on day 1 and puts you in a fitting group to ensure you’re not bored, or overwhelmed with the classes. There are courses that cater to the beginner, intermediate and advanced surfer.

The team know all of the many surf spots in the area and what conditions they need to work best so every day you’ll be surfing ideal waves for your skill level. The spots vary from mellow beach breaks with soft sand bottoms, to hollow, volcanic reef breaks. The team has trusty 4x4’s that will pick you up in the morning, then make a quick stop at the shop to get the right board and wetsuit for you, then take you to even the hardest to reach surf spots.

When you arrive at the spot the team will give you a run-down of the break, where you need to sit, what the currents are doing and what waves you should be looking for. Then you’ll get a little theory on to teach you the basics of getting up or doing turns depending on what class you are in. After a small warm up and stretch you’ll hit the water with the coach and surf for about 2 hours. The crew on the beach will also take some video to look over later to improve your surfing.

Description

Take the Surf Guiding when you're confident with getting up and ready to tackle the surf

For those of you who’ve already ridden plenty of waves, caught some long rides and are working on turns, and want to catch epic waves in Fuerteventura should choose to take part in Surf Guiding.

Even with all the modern wave forecasting technology through websites like Magic Seaweed and Surfline, you still can’t compete with the local information that Surf Guides can provide. The team chooses waves based on your skill level and gives you exact information about every spot you go to. The thing is surf spots change almost hourly, with shifting sand banks, variable wind and moving tide all influencing the waves. The team can keep you informed on the changes and make sure you get the best waves throughout your session.

Alongside the guiding, the team can offer individual Surf Coaching where they come out in the water and give you pointers to improve your surfing and work on things like bottom turns, cutbacks and top turns. They can also film you and analyse your technique back at the shop. Then you’ll get personalised feedback to improve your surfing. The Surf Guiding is only available from the start of September to the end of May.

Fuerteventura Airport (FUE)

We offer an extra service where we will find you the cheapest available flight, then contact you with the final offer. Flights to Fuerteventura's Puerto del Rosario Airport are easy to find and most airlines fly there directly.

For those of you who would rather find and book flights yourself we recommend Skyscanner which will give you a good overview of the available flights and where they depart from. You can fly to Fuerteventura Airport directly with EasyJet, Lufthansa, Iberia and Eurowings.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

*Send flight details directly to the camp manager after booking.

You can book an Airport shuttle through: Shuttle Fuerteventura. One way the trip costs around 14.00€, if it’s a shuttle bus that only departs when its full.  They stop plenty of times along the way so the trip can take around 2 hours. You can also book a private shuttle which costs 87€. Contact the camp manager once your flight details are confirmed and they will help you find the right transport option, their contact details are on your Pure Surf Camp invoice.

Rental Car

We recommend renting a car, if possible a 4x4! In Fuerteventura, there are very cheap rental cars available that start at 80€ per week. At Sunny Cars you'll find the cheapest rental cars around! Getting a rental car will allow you to spontaneously explore the coastline. It will also give you the freedom to take early morning drives up the coast to go to your favourite surf spot if you are already an experienced wave rider.
