Snorkelling Gran Canary

You can go snorkelling directly in front of the camp

At the beach of Las Canteras you have plenty to discover underwater. Snorkelling is the easiest way to discover the underwater world for yourself and see colourful fish and the living coral reef. Peña la Vieja is the liveliest section of the beach where you will have fish come up directly in front of your diving mask.

If you go at low tide make sure you swim out to the reef located a short distance from the beach. When you get out there you will not only see amazing underwater life, but there is also a fun underwater blowhole.

When the swell rolls into a certain section of the reef, called the Ascensor by the locals, or elevator in English, the water level will rise around you taking you up, and then as the wave recedes you drop back down. The up and down movement can be over 2 meters, and is a bunch of fun.
