Surf Camp Tenerife is run by Pronaga Balayo S.L. and is mediated by Pure Surf Camps who have been working together for years. We have had countless positive comments about the camp by returning guests and we have also been to experience it for ourselves.

Surf Camp Tenerife is a special place to go for your next surf trip, you surf perfect waves around the beautiful island of Tenerife, the groups are small and the team will get you away from the crowds so you can learn to surf in a relaxed atmosphere. If you’re not coming to learn, but to surf the best waves, you also get taken to epic spots, with empty line-ups, and with the chance to surf with, or get coached by, pro surfer Alex Zirke.

The team at the camp wants to give you an authentic surf experience where you’ll learn to surf, but also learn everything that's involved in in the culture around surfing like how best to get along with local surfers, what equipment works best for what various surfers & conditions, how to take care of the ocean & your surroundings as well as how to read the weather charts, including wind strength & direction, swell size & direction as well as tides. If you are already confident out in the water you will work on learning big craves & turns, surfing bigger waves, and if the conditions allow, getting barrelled or doing airs. Regardless of how good you are in the water, by the time the holiday is over your surf skills will have greatly improved.

The picturesque volcanic coastline of Tenerife

Der Ort Punta del Hidalgo
The camp is in the small town of Punta Del Hidalgo, which is in the north, near San Cristóbal de la Laguna. There a few small cluster of shops and restaurants in the area, but the main city center is slightly inland. In town you will find an old church to visit, plenty of shops, restaurants & bars. This area of Tenerife is a little off the beaten tourist path, so you get to experience a more authentic Canary Island experience while still having plenty to see and do nearby, and obviously surf the best waves.

Surf Camp Tenerife is located on the northern peninsula of Tenerife surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. North of the camp you have the Anaga Mountains, and to the south you have the huge volcano of Pico del Teide. Along the coast you will see the stunning lighthouse of Faro de Punta, it was completed in 1992, so it’s relatively modern and stands an impressive 50 meters tall.

Stunning coastal trails to explore

Hiking
The new, and well sign posted trail form Punta del Hialgo to Chinamada is a must-do while on Tenerife to experience amazing views of both the coast, and the mountainous inland areas. Another hike well worth doing is along the coast that will take you past the lighthouse, banana plantations, and a church, as well as giving you a stunning view of the 'Tre Cime di Lavaredo' mountain peaks.

Eating Seafood
The Fisherman Association Restaurant is the best spot on the island for fresh, well prepared seafood. It only serves lunch, but is well worth checking out, and its located along the waterfront promenade so you get an amazing view to go along with your amazing meal. Obviously, there are plenty more restaurants that serve great seafood as well as the best tapas, and the local crew is full of recommendations.

Snorkeling
Explore the underwater world of Tenerife by going snorkeling. Along the coast you have various reefs and rock bays where you will see plenty of fish and underwater life.

Go on the search for the original coral reefs that surrounded the island

Alongside the surfing, skating & hiking you have other options such as Paragliding. The paraglider takes off on the neighbouring cliffs and you fly over the coast and watch the swell hitting the northern beaches of Tenerife from a completely different angle.

You can also take magical diving & snorkelling excursions to explore the ever-changing underwater world of Tenerife. It used to be all coral reefs until the volcano in the center of the island erupted covering everything in dark volcanic rock.

You still see pieces of the reef in tact or washed up on the coast. Along the beaches you’ll find amazing rock pools that hold and warm water during the low tide. They get super warm and are the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the view.

Tenerife South:
Bus: Travel time is 2.5 hours, and the price is 15 €.
Taxi: Travel time is 1 hour, and the price is about 100 € one way.
